CLOSE CALL
Sep. 29, 1995
When riding bicycle I always thought the hazards were automobiles, trucks, RV's, Motorcycles, dogs, pot holes, kids on bicycles. This morning I discovered a new one.
About 25 minutes into my ride I was cruising along Sister's Road at about 15 MPH when a dead tree limb, about 8 inches in diameter, broke off and started falling directly in front of me. By swerving into the left lane I escaped untouched and unharmed.
When I thought of the many possibilities for disaster
it really got scary.
1) I could have been 3 seconds sooner and it would have fallen right on top
of me. 2) It came down vertical and landed on end, if it had fallen to the left
instead of the right, it would have got me. 3) There could have been a car coming
when I swerved into the left lane. Thanks!
